Born This Day!

birth-466140_960_720There were no cameras to take hundreds of pictures, no scales to tell us the weight or height, and no cute announcements to send. But God the Father wrote the birth announcement of His Son in the sky with a chorus of angels and sent it to the whole world, beginning with the shepherds in Bethlehem.

“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord.”

“…and thou shalt call his name Jesus; for he shall save his people from their sin.” Luke 2:11

Among the many oohs and aahs of those gazing on a newborn, the assertion of who the infant resembles invariably is stated. It is no different with this One named Jesus.

“God…hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son…heir of all things…who being the brightness of his glory; and the express image of his person,” Hebrews 1-3

“…and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and

truth.” John 1:14

This Child came to show us the glory of the Father, being the express image of Him. The shepherds looked upon Him and we behold Him in His word.

The angels declared the Savior’s birth and praised God saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.”

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world: but that the world through him might be saved.” John 3:16-17

The announcement went out over 2000 years ago. The shepherds spread the good news we are now entrusted with, so the announcement continues to ring throughout the world…A Savior is born. There is only One. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” Acts 4:12  And… “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power…And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem: whom they slew and hanged on a tree. Him, God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead. And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of the quick and dead. To him give all the prophets witness that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.” Acts 10:38-43

Born this day is a Savior who saves us completely from the penalty of sin by taking our penalty; from the power of sin by giving us His Holy Spirit who is greater than the one in the world; and saves us from the presence of sin by taking us to a place is even now preparing for those who love him, a place of eternal glory.

Let’s join the angels and the shepherds declaring, Glory to God in the Highest…A Savior is born this day! Spread the Good News!

Prayer: Father, all praise, glory and honor belong to you. You love us with an everlasting love and given yourself for our salvation. May we give you a surrendered life to be used to tell the world, A Savior is born!
