“The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of His Christ; and He shall reign for ever and ever.” Revelation 11:15
Wars, rumors of war, nations rising against nations, sounds like media headlines but it is straight from God’s word – Matthew 24:4-31. This passage doesn’t end there. It proceeds to describe the world then and now.
A question tumbles through our minds but we are afraid to ask it for fear others may think we are some kind of religious fanatic. As we look around at the chaotic mess of our world, we ask, “Is it the end?” Matthew 24: 6 tells us the end is not yet. There is more to come. These things are the beginning of sorrows…birth pangs they are called in one translation.
If you have ever had a baby, you know when the pain starts there are more to come. They will be more severe until birth finally happens. The earth has been in the throes of birth pains for over 2000 years. The pains are coming harder and quicker. Our hope? The birth of God’s kingdom among us.
Is it the end? Not, yet, but we will know when it is. And it will come suddenly. Will the Lord find you watching, working, and waiting?
