“God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend. For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth…Stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.” Job 37:14
“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you…” The works of this world breed worry and unrest, promising to give birth to a peace it cannot deliver. The hearts of men fail for the lack of it, and the pharmaceutical companies grow rich trying to sell bottles of it.
God promises peace but lack of understanding of what is seen floods the mind with doubts and blinds eyes to the truth. Does God expect the world to have a blind faith in His existence, in His word of truth? Or has He left a witness for those who will come to Him and have their blinded eyes open, their hearts strengthened and their minds filled with His peace?
God’s word states creation clearly shows His divine nature. The last 6 chapters of Job reveal. to the extent people can understand, the power and wisdom of God as evidence of His existence. The wisdom of mankind tries to explain away reality through their understanding of science. But as seen in Job’s encounter with God, true science originated with God. He alone contains the wisdom to make it all work and sustain life. People refused the evidence before them when Jesus, God the Son, walked the earth, even as people do today, not realizing to deny God is to forfeit true peace.
A bumper sticker states, “Know God. Know Peace. No God. No Peace.”
Jesus says, ““Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you…These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 14:27, 16:33
Knowing God is to know peace. If you are filled with worry, heartache or pain, read those last chapters of Job and then finish with John 14-16. Your circumstances may not change but your spirit will find comfort as your heart is filled with God’s presence and your mind with His peace.
Praying for you to know the peace of God that passes understanding.
