“And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor the sea, nor on any tree.” Rev.7:1
Do you believe in angels? Many people talk about having a guardian angel, and that may be so. Jesus told His disciples, “Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 18:10.
But not only do I believe in guardian angels, I believe in the vast army of angels God has at His disposal to speak His message, serve His purpose and minister to those of us who are heirs to salvation. “Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?” Hebrews 1:14. Take for instance, the terrified servant of Elisha in 2Kings 6. A Syrian army surrounded him and his master, Elisha. His courage failed him. Elisha prayed and his servant’s eyes saw the invisible army of God coming to their aid.
It took only one angel to keep the lions from feasting on Daniel. Twice we are told the angels ministered to Jesus in his weakness; once when tempted of satan and once in the garden during His agony.
They spoke God’s message to His prophets and servants. They delivered His disciples from prison. Their purpose? To glorify God their creator through unquestioned obedience which includes ministering to the saved as our sovereign God directs. It is mind boggling how God provides for His own.
Daniel, from the lion’s den, and John, the apostle, saw thousand thousands, ten thousand times ten thousand of them around the throne of God, the Ancient of Days. And what were they doing? Giving worship to their Creator saying, “Amen; Blessing and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.”
One day our voices will rise above the angels as we cry aloud, “Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.” We sing a song the angels cannot sing, for we have been redeemed!
Let’s take a lesson from the angels and worship God now with our obedience and our voices of praise. If we all joined the chorus, the sound would reach around the world.
Praying for us to worship our Creator/Redeemer through our obedience and our praise. Praying for those who do not yet know Him.
