A Day When the Animals Talk

Doctor Dolittle LPIn 1920, Hugh Lofting’s book, “Doctor Dolittle”, was released. The fine doctor preferred talking and being with the animals, rather than his human patients. His story seems far fetched. But truth is stranger than fiction. John in Revelation 5: 13 says he too heard the animals talk and not just the animals but every created thing in heaven, on the earth, under the earth and on the sea, and all things in them. Verse 14 tells us what John heard.

“To Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, be blessing and honor and glory and dominion forever and ever.”

“To Him who sits on the throne…”     “Whom have I in heaven but thee? and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee…it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, that I may declare all thy works.” Ps. 73:25,28.

“…and to the Lamb…”    “…Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world…And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.” John 1:29b, 34.

“…be blessing…”    “Bless the Lord, all his works in all places of his dominion: bless the Lord, o my soul.” Ps. 103:22.  “For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods. And unto one he gave five talents…He went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents…after a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them. And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents; behold, I have gained beside them five talents more. His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” Matt. 25: 14-21 (portions)

“…and honor…”    Honor-the transliteration is, TIME, with a line over the E and, according to Vine’s Expository Dictionary, it means to value. “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit.” Eph. 5:15-18.

“…and glory…”   Honor brings glory. Glory is to boast. “Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Eph. 3:21. “In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.” Ps. 44:8.

“…and dominion forever and ever.” (NASB).  “God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.” Ps. 62:11.

To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb, let our praise be heard.

“…Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord; peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. And some of the Pharisees…said..Master, rebuke thy disciples. And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.” Luke 19: 38-40.
