“But ye are a chosen generation…” 1Pet. 2:9. “For many are called, but few are chosen.” Matt. 22:14.
In Revelation 17 those who are with the King of kings and the Lord of lords are, “called, and chosen, and faithful. Yesterday scripture showed us not all who hear the call are among the called. Now we look at the chosen by examining 1Peter 2:9-10.
“But ye are a chosen generation…” “Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?” “According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love…To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.” (James 2:5; Eph. 1:4,6).
“…a royal priesthood…” “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” “And from Jesus Christ, who…hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” (IPet. 2:5; Rev. 1:5a,6).
“…an holy nation…” “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord;” (2Cor. 7:1; Heb.12:14).
“…a peculiar people…” “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” “And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.” (Titus 2:13,14: Rev. 21:3)
“…that ye should shew forth the praises of him…” “Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.” “For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.” “Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.” “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.” (Ps.66:16; Acts 4:20; Ps. 67:3; Heb. 13:15).
“…who hath called you…” “Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.” Matthew 22: 8,9.
“…out of darkness…” “They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness…” “The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.” “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” (Ps.82:5; Prov. 4:19; John 3:19).
“…into his marvelous light…” “Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and glory of the Lord is risen upon thee…And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.” “But ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:”(Isa. 60:1,3; Eph. 5:8)
“Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God…” “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name;” “…God sent forth his Son…to redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.” (John 1:12; Gal. 4:4-5).
Praying the called, the chosen and the faithful, “…may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ…glorify God for his mercy…SING UNTO THY NAME…REJOICE, YE GENTILES, WITH HIS PEOPLE…PRAISE THE LORD, ALL YE GENTILES; AND LAUD HIM, ALL YE PEOPLE…Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.” Rom. 15:6-11,13). Persevere chosen ones, you have a high calling. Endure and be among the faithful, which I hope to look at Monday.
