The Unwanted Abundance of God

“…the judgment of God is according to truth…and thinkest…that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness…not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? (Rom. 2:2-4).th2

God’s love abounds in goodness toward us leading, those who will follow, to repentance and a relationship with Him. In contrast and warning Paul continues to tell us the end of both who do and don’t receive God’s goodness.

But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath…and…the righteous judgment of God; WHO WILL RENDER TO EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS DEED: To them who in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that…do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil… ”(Rom. 2:5-10).

Those who will receive God’s goodness are to, “…have compassion, making a difference…” But those of a hard unrepentant heart, “And others save with fear pulling them out of the fire: hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.” (Jude22,23).

For the unwanted goodness of God the unwanted day of the wrath of God will come. Scripture graphically describes that time and those who receive it. Whether you believe it or not is of no consequence to the truth but does bear great consequence to your eternity.

John says, “…I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal…a great earthquake: and the sun became black as sackcloth of hair, and the moon became as blood…the stars…fell unto the earth…the heaven departed as a scroll…and every mountain and island were moved out of their places…kings…great men…rich men…chief captains…mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?” Rev. 6:12-17.

Current events and weather phenomena across our planet, cause some to wonder if God’s wrath is upon us. Jesus tells us these things are birth pangs and then explains we will know when the end is near. “Now learn the parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.” (Matt. 24:32,33).

When the full wrath of God comes, there will be no mistaking it.

“…I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels…pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth…”  In my understanding what happens next, happens quickly.

”…the first poured out his…a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and…worshipped his image…

the second poured …his upon the sea…it became as …blood… and every living soul died in the sea…

the third poured …out his…upon the rivers and fountains of waters… they became blood…they have shed the blood of saints and prophets…thou hast given them blood to drink…Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments…

the fourth angel poured out his…upon the sun…to scorch men with fire…And men…blasphemed the name of God…and they repented not…

the fifth angel poured out his…upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues in pain…and repented not…

the sixth angel poured…his upon the great river Euphrates…water …was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared…spirits of devils…go forth unto the kings…and …the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty…

the seventh angel poured…his…into the air…And there were voices…thunders… lightnings…a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth …every island fled away… mountains were not found. And there fell upon men a great hail…every stone about the weight of a talent(75-100lbs): and men blasphemed God.” (From Rev. 16).

Why tell you this? We may not live to see this day, but then again we may. I believe the fig tree is blooming. When its fruit is ripe, there will be a harvest. Whether you are alive in that day or not, there is still a judgment coming. “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” Rev. 20:15.

“But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief. Ye are all the children of light…God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another…”1Thess. 5:4,9-11.

I write hoping to snatch from the fire those who have refused God’s abundant goodness. Praying they may come to know it in the salvation provided by His Son Jesus Christ, so as, not to experience the unwanted abundance of wrath to come.
