Anchor of the Soul

Hope, “…an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast…which is Christ Jesus in you, the hope of glory.” (Heb. 6;19a; Col. 1:27b).

“…an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast; and which entereth into that within the veil… by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us…For Christ…entered into…heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us…but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself…and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”(Heb. 6:19; 9:12, 24,,26,28).

Christ is the anchor, the sure and steadfast object of hope. His blood obtained eternal redemption. Now He appears before the Father. At some point in time, He will appear again, not in reference to sin, but to consummate His victory and reign forever.

Christ is the anchor. Is He your anchor, your hope of glory?

“…which is Christ Jesus in you…Jesus…said…If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him… Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you… And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father… Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit…Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God…He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.(John 14:23; 1Cor. 3:16;Gal. 4:6; 1John 4:13,15; 1John 5:10).

“… the hope of glory…Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his… But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you…For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope; for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it… But as it is written, EYE HATH NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NEITHER HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN, THE THINGS WHICH GOD HATH PREPARED FOR THEM THAT LOVE HIM… Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:” (Rom. 8:9b,11,24,25;1Cor. 2:9;Matt. 25:34).

This anchor of hope is yours only if Christ dwells in your heart.

Praying all who read have the sure, steadfast, anchor of glory, Christ dwelling in you.

  1. Thank you for those wonderful words of encouragement regarding hope and Jesus being our anchor. I especially liked these words, “but hope that is seen is not hope; for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.” This applies to many things promised us in scripture.
