God’s Goodness, Our Blessedness

“Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts…” Ps. 65:4. This is where we began the week with God’s blessing. All are the recipients of God’s goodness, but not all know the blessedness of being able to approach God, to have access to Him. Romans 5:1,2 shows how anyone who wants this blessing can receive it.

“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”th2

“Therefore being justified…Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we are saved from wrath through him…Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.” Rom. 5:9,18.

Blessed, recipients of God’s goodness…Justified, according to Vine’s Expository Dictionary, is, “the legal and formal acquittal from guilt by God as Judge, the pronouncement of the sinner as righteous, who believes on the Lord Jesus Christ.” Hallelejuah I am blessed!

“…justified by faith…For I say, think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith…Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.” (Rom. 12:3; Gal. 3:6-9).

“…we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ…And having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight;” Gal. 3:20-22.

“By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand…And Jesus uttered a loud cry, and breathed His last, and the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom(NASB)…Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us through the veil, that is to say, his flesh; and having an high priest over the house of God; Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith…” (Mark 15:37,38; Heb. 10:19-22a).

“…and rejoice in hope of the glory of God…To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory… I am crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” (Col.1:27; Gal. 2:20).

  • Justified by faith
  • Peace with God
  • Access by faith
  • Hope of glory

“…The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth… O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him… Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance.” (Ex. 34:6; Ps. 34:8; Rom. 2:4).

The fruit of God’s goodness: justification, peace, access and hope. Have you been blessed with His goodness.? You can, simply trust in the blood of Christ to cleanse you from sin and bring you into this justification, peace, access and hope. God waits to bless you.

What goodness of God have you received this week?
