Genesis relates the conception of a nation, a people God would call His own. Exodus shows us the growth of that nation in the womb of Egypt until its deliverance through the blood of the lamb.
“Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house…Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats…And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it…
For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.” (Ex. 12: 3,5,7,12,13).
From the first promise of deliverance in Gen. 3:15,
“And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.”
To the Lord’s appointed time in Galatians 4:4,
“But when the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law.”
And declared in Revelation 12:5,
“And she brought forth a man child, who was to rule all nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and to his throne.”
Israel’s deliverance from Egypt pictures our deliverance from the womb of a world of sin into the glorious light of our Lord.
We have the promise of deliverance…
“…Behold, the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world…John 1:29; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins…Matt. 26:28; Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father.” Gal. 1:3,4.
“But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: In whom we trust that he will yet deliver us…1Cor. 1:9,10; Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.” Heb. 2:14,15
Through the precious Lamb of God;
“For great is thy mercy toward me; and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell…Ps. 86:13; Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.” 1Peter 1:18-21.
Deliverance from sin and death are available. Exodus shows us the way. Jesus is the way.
Do you know this deliverance? If you don’t you can.
