Don’t Quit!

Retracing the Israelite’s steps in the book of Numbers serves as example to us. Retracing is good but we want to turn from following their example.

As they stood on the edge of receiving a life of abundance the Lord promised them, they turned their backs on Him in unbelief and wandered aimlessly for forty years until death brought them to their end. They never received the abundant life the Lord had for them.

To the Israelites the Lord spoke through the prophet Moses:

“But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness. And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.” Numbers 14:32,33.

Joshua and Caleb would be the only ones from that generation to enter the Promised Land. But did you notice, because of the parents’ disobedience and unbelief their children wandered in a barren land waiting for the day the promise would be theirs. Sin reaches beyond one’s self touching others we may not see.

Today, the Lord speaks through the Israelites’ example to us:

“Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God. But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin…And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?” Heb. 3:12,13,18.

Life on planet earth brings its temptations and trials. But as a child of the living God we are admonished to persevere, endure and do it with joy. That proves to be the hard part. But there is a-

Way to Endure:

Remember- “But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer…Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you…1Peter 4:7,12; Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1Cor. 10:12,13.

Rejoice-“But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings’ that , when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy…1Pet. 4;13; My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience[endurance]. But let patience have her perfect work that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing…James 1:2-4; And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also; knowing that tribulation worketh patience[endurance]; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.” Rom. 5:3-5.

Realign our Sight-“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience[endurance] the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. for consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.” Heb. 12:1-4.

DSCF0336Reward-“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. For ye have need of patience[endurance], that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. FOR YET A LITTLE WHILE, AND HE THAT SHALL COME WILL COME, AND WILL NOT TARRY…Heb. 10: 35-57; Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.” Rev. 14: 12.

Trials and testing are but a moment in time perfecting us for an eternity with Christ.
