Will You Be the One?

DSCF0327“And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.” Ezek. 22:30.

Nehemiah’s prayers for his countrymen and the restoration of Jerusalem reflect the intercessory praying Christ prayed for His church.

Christ prayed, is praying, and will continue to pray for us.

“I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me: for they are thine.” John 17:9.

The Father’s Answer:

“Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.”  Romans 8:34.

“Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.” Hebrews 7:25.

“And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.” John 17:11.

The Father’s Answer:

“And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Fathers hand. I and my Father are one.” John 10:28-30.

“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Phil. 1:6.

“I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.” John 17:15.

The Father’s Answer:

“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed: for I am thy God. I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee, yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isa. 41:10.

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer  you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” 1Cor. 10:13.

“Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.” John 17:17.

The Father’s Answer:

“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also love the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.” Eph. 5:6.

“Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.” Heb. 10:9,10.

“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word: That they all may be one as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.” John 20:20-21.

The Father’s Answer:

“For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.” Eph. 5:30.

“Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.” 1John 2:24.

“And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them: that they may be one, even as we are one: I in thee , and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent them, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.” John 17:22,23.

“That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; and to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.” Eph. 3:17-19.

Christ’s prayer for us is not for us alone. But it is also, for all who would come to believe in Him through the word we speak, the life we live. All is so the world, of which we once were , would believe the Father sent the Son and in believing find life.

Nehemiah stood in the gap for Israel. Jesus stands in the gap for all the world, still praying for His children and those who are yet to become His.

Will He find in you one who will stand in the gap interceding for the lost and for the church?

When you think all you can do is pray, remember prayer is the best you can do.

How have the prayers of others been a help to you?

  1. Prayer seems to be the topic of the month for me. It’s as if God is reminding me that I need to pray more and as often as I can not slacking off.
