He Did It Anyway

cross-sunset-sunrise-hill-70847.jpeg“And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid. And he took again the twelve, and began to tell them what things would happen unto him.”

He went anyway.

“Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes…”

“And they led Jesus away to the high priest: and with him were assembled all the chief priests and the elders and the scribes…But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? And Jesus said, I am: and ye shall see THE SON OF MAN SITTING ON THE RIGHT HAND OF POWER, AND COMING IN THE CLOUDS OF HEAVEN. Then the high priest rent his clothes, and saith, What need we any further witnesses?” Mark 14:53,61,62,63.

He did it anyway.

“And they shall condemn him to death…”

“Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to death.” Mark 14:64

He did it anyway.

“…and shall deliver him to the Gentiles…”

“And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried him away, and delivered him to Pilate. And Pilate asked him, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answering said unto him, Thou sayest it.” Mark 15:1

He did it anyway.

“And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him…”

 “And so Pilate, willing to content the people, released Barabbas unto them, and delivered Jesus, when he had scourged him, to be crucified…And they clothed him with purple, and platted a crown of thorns, and put it about his head, and began to salute him, Hail, King of the Jews! And they smote him on the head with a reed, and did spit upon him, and bowing their knees worshipped him. And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple from him, and put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him…And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.”Mark 15:15,17-20,37

He did it anyway.

“Then said Jesus unto him…Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels? But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?” Matthew 26:53,54.

But He didn’t anyway.

Christ’s road led Him through a long hard way. But He walked it anyway, leaving us an example to follow when our road goes beyond the horizon and is paved with rocks and potholes. How do we do it? How do we continue and not give up?

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: and being found in fashion as a man,

he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”Phil 2:5-8…

For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds. Ye have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin…Heb. 12:3,4

…Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment:

because as he is, so are we in this world…1John 4:17;

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:

and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” Gal. 2:20.

This path is not in vain. There is reward.

“and the third day he shall rise again.”

He did it.

“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil…Heb. 2;14;

So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory…thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1Cor. 15;54,57.

“Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith: who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God…Heb. 12:2;

And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was…Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory…John 17:5, 24a;

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us…Rom. 8:18.

Because He did…

We can do it anyway.

“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Phil. 4:13.

Unmarked scriptures are from Mark 10.

  1. Amen! “he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”Phil 2:5-8…” So, we can, too. So, we can die with him to sin and live with him to righteousness. So, we can endure unjust suffering for the sake of his name, and for the sake of his gospel of our salvation.
