How can the Church experience revival again, or can it?
“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron…1Tim. 4: 1,2
…evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” 2Tim. 3:13
Is revival something we want? Before answering, consider the cost, the work of revival that must take place in the hearts of the body of Christ.
*Warren Richards, wcr281.wordpress.com, offered the following reply:
“With God, all things are possible, even Revival in the church! But first, hearts have to be WIDE OPEN, to truly receive… the Revaluation! Then, and now, God is still moving… even if our hearts can’t see!”
Revival comes about as a work of faith in the hearts of men and women moved by God to pray. Yes, many are departing from the faith of Jesus Christ for faith in seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils, going from bad to worse as their consciences are being seared over with the branding iron of deception. But…
“And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:7-8.
“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him…” 2Chron. 16:9
The Lord looks for those who desire Him to intrude into their lives; those who love Him with all their heart, mind, soul, and strength. So He can interject His blessings into their lives. He is looking for men and women of faith who are like the woman in the parable of the unjust judge. She didn’t quit until she got the desire of her heart. The scripture says Jesus told this parable, “…to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Luke 18:1.
In other words, don’t give up when the answer doesn’t come in a moment. If revival is something worth having it is worth waiting and working for. We are not working alone. The Lord has invited us to join Him in His work through our prayers. There is reward. He is answering. Our hearts may not see what God is doing but our eyes of faith see the work as already done. Keep praying.
- “Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.
- Commit thy way unto the LORD;
- trust also in him;
- and he shall bring it to pass…Ps. 37: 4-5;
And this is the confidence we have in him, that,
- if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
- And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask,
- we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” 1John 5:14,15.
We can’t get to the work until we get out of bed.
The Lord calls to His church,
“That knowing the time ,
that now is high time to awake out of sleep:
for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.
The night is far spent, the day is at hand:
- let us therefore cast off the works of darkness,
- and let us put on the armour of light.
- Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
- But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ,
- and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” Rom. 13 11-4.
“Wherefore he saith,
AWAKE THOU THAT SLEEPEST,
AND ARISE FROM THE DEAD,
AND CHRIST SHALL GIVE THEE LIGHT. “ Eph. 5: 14.
“Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.” 1Cor. 15:34.
In Daniel 12: 2-3, the one speaking with him speaks of the resurrection at the end of time, but hear his words of promise.
“And many of them
that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake,
some to everlasting life,
and some to shame and everlasting contempt.
And they that be wise
shall shine as the brightness of the firmament:
and they that turn many to righteousness
as the stars for ever and ever.”
Not only is revival possible today. It is happening today. How do I know? God has brought revival to my heart.
Revive- “to flourish anew, to live again, to regain life” (Vines Expository Dictionary of Old & New Testament Words).
Is your spirit parched, hungry, lifeless? Let revival begin one person at a time. Soon the glory of the Lord will be seen among us. “FOR YET A LITTLE WHILE, AND HE THAT SHALL COME WILL COME, AND WILL NOT TARRY.” Heb. 10:37.
“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come.
And let him that heareth say, Come.
And let him that is athirst come.
And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.” Rev. 22:17
If you want revival, you can have it. Ask, seek, and knock. You will receive, find, and have it opened unto you. After all we are the church of Jesus Christ.
