“For I determined not to know any thing among you,
save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.”
1 Corinthians 2:2.
“Not every one that sayeth unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven;
but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name?
and in thy name have cast out devils?
And in thy name done many wonderful works?
And then will I profess unto them,
I never knew you:
depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them,
I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house: and it fell not:
for it was founded upon a rock.
And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not,
shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand; And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell:
and great was the fall of it.”
Carpenters by trade and skill grace my husband’s family. Any one of them would tell you the importance of building on a strong, level, immoveable foundation. Anything less and trouble will find you in the future. Even if the structure is blown away, the solid foundation will remain to be built upon again. The work may be lost but the foundation is sure.
The word of God tells us we need a strong, unwavering foundation that will stand the trials of life and carry us into eternity.
“But God forbid that I should glory,
save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ,
by whom the world is crucified unto me,
and I unto the world.
For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision,
but a new creature.”
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness:
but unto us which are saved
it is the power of God.”
What foundation are you building your life on? Will it stand through time into eternity?
“But God commendeth his love toward us in that,
while we were yet sinners,
Christ died for us.”
