The Kings of the Kingdoms

Two kingdoms, the kingdom of earth and the kingdom of heaven, currently wage war for power. Even though one has lost the war, he continues to battle the others realm through discrediting the King of the heavenly kingdom.

Bear with me as I use the Lord’s Prayer to guide in contrasting these two kingdoms.

Our Father, which art in heaven…

“If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me…He that is of God heareth God’s words…” John 8:42,47.

“Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.” 1John 5:1.

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12,13.

”Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” 1John 3:1.

“And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, HOLY, HOLY, HOLY, LORD GOD ALMIGHTY, WHICH WAS, AND IS, AND IS TO COME.” Revelation 4:8.

The father of those of the kingdom of earth

“Jesus answered them…I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham’s children, ye would do the works of Abraham. But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham…Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do…” John 8:38-40,44.

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost; In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:4.

Paul spoke these words to Elymas the sorcerer.

“Then Saul, ( who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him, And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, will thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?” Acts 13:9,10.

“Hallowed by thy name…”

“Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea. The LORD is my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father’s God, and I will exalt him…Who is like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders…Thou in thy mercy hast led forth the people which thou hast redeemed: thou hast guided them in thy strength unto thy holy habitation.” Exodus 15:1-2,11,13.

“And I saw…them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name…And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, GREAT AND MARVELLOUS ARE THY WORKS, LORD GOD ALMIGHTY; JUST AND TRUE ARE THY WAYS, THOU KING OF SAINTS. WHO SHALL NOT FEAR THEE, O LORD, AND GLORIFY THY NAME? FOR THOU ONLY ART HOLY…” Revelation 15:2-4.

“Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.” Exodus 20:7.

Evil is his name.

“Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.” John 8:44.

“He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.” Matthew 13:37-40.

“He that committeth sin is of the devil: for the devil sinneth from the beginning…1John 3:8.

“Thy kingdom come.”

To be continued..Lord willing, I plan to continue using the Lord’s Prayer to contrast the two kings and kingdoms in my next few posts. I hope you will join me.  Until next time,

One question, Who is your father?

  1. Donna, thank you for sewing all these supporting verses in the Lord’s Prayer theme and expounding it; contrasting it with the earthly power. GOD bless you and your family! The Lord and GOD is our FATHER in Heaven. Amen?
