Thine is the Glory

We’ve come to the end of the Lord’s prayer…the end where God’s glory is fully revealed. We will behold His glory. Let that soak in for a minute. We receive and live in glimpses of it now, but then, to behold Him as He is.

“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” 1 John 3:2

Jesus’ first coming revealed all God’s power, authority, love, grace, holiness…He revealed the glory of God.

“And the Word was made flesh,

and dwelt among us,

(and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,)

full of grace and truth.” John 1:14.

Yet, the majority who witnessed the glory of the Father, didn’t believe what they saw. The next time the glory of God is among us, all doubts will be erased. We will see Him as He is.

“And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man,

clothed with a garment down to the foot,

and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow;

and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

and his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace;

and his voice as the sound of many waters.

And he had in his right hand seven stars:

and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword:

and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.”

Revelation 1:13-16

Then speaking of the city that is to come, John wrote,

“And the twelve gates were twelve pearls: every several gate was of one pearl; and the street of the city was pure gold, as it were transparent glass.

And I saw no temple therein:

for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.

And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it:

for the glory of God did lighten it,

and the Lamb is the light thereof.”

Revelation 21:21-23

And our response?

“And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying,

Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power,

be unto him that sitteth upon the throne,

and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.”

Revelation 5:13-14

“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him,

and given him a name which is above every name;

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,

of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,

to the glory of God the Father.”

Philippians 2:9-11.

EVERY…EVERY…EVERY-the skeptic, the agnostic, the atheist, the sinner, and the saint-EVERY. The rich, the poor, the kings and the servants, the famous and not so famous, the powerful, the weak-EVERY.

A friend asked yesterday, “Do you believe Jesus is coming soon, really soon for His children?”

My answer? “Yes, yes, I do for Jesus said He is coming soon. And, yes, it’s been 2000 years  since the word first was heard. But He told the disciples then to believe it. They did and turned their world upside down. I am told to live believing it. So, I do.”

I wonder if we who follow Christ truly believed He would come the day we live in, would we turn our world upside down?

My prayer for us all:

“Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.” Jude 24-25
