“Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house,
an holy priesthood,
to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.”
The post, “Of What House are You?” explored the phrases, lively stone, and spiritual house. Those of the household of faith in Christ enjoy a personal relationship with the Lord and the privilege of serving in,
“an holy priesthood…”
This priesthood makes us ministers of Christ to a lost world. He entrusted His gospel to us, but did not leave us on our own.
“And he said unto them,
Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved;
but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
“And he said unto them,
Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer,
and to rise from the dead the third day:
And that repentance and remission of sins
should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
And ye are witnesses of these things.”
Luke 24: 46-48.
I have a confession to make as I sit here and write these verses. Many years ago my heart burned to do this very thing. I wanted to go into all the world. The Lord did not unfold the opportunity as I envisioned it. For a time this burden weighed heavy in my heart until I didn’t think I could bear it any longer.
I prayed, “ Father, I don’t understand. What good is this burden when I can’t go? Take it from me if you won’t send me.”
I beg of you don’t ever do that.
I’m thankful for His grace and patience with a young impetuous and ignorant child. He didn’t send me to the farthest corners but He did send me to the world I lived in. Through the years He has privileged me to be His minister of the gospel to many.
Wherever the Lord puts you be faithful ministers of the gospel in word and deed.
- Don’t ever lose your burden for the lost or for the body of Christ.
- Return to your first love, the love that beats in Christ’s heart.
- No matter where we are there are people hurting, needing to hear and see the love of Jesus.
Remember always we are not alone in this work and He is the power within us.
”But ye shall receive power,
after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:
and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea,
and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
“And lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
As priests of the most high God, we look to Jesus our example. He intercedes on our behalf. Let us remember to always intercede on behalf of one another.
“For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands,
which are the figures of the true;
but into heaven itself,
now to appear in the presence of God for us:”
Paul admonishes us to be,
“Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit,
and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
And for me, that utterance may be given unto me,
that I may open my mouth boldly,
to make know the mystery of the gospel,
for which I am an ambassador in bonds:
that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.”
Do you find it hard to share the gospel with others?
What are some reasons we hesitate to speak the most wonderful thing that has ever happened in this world?
There is one ministry not mentioned today-the offering of sacrifices. That’s for the next post.
As a side note, God has honored my desire to take His word into all the world in these days of technology. He has given me the desires of my heart and so much more. Thank you to all my readers. You are in my prayers.
