For Us, By Him

Honestly, these days I avoid the news, political discussions, and the fear fighting to claim the hearts of the world. I know there is trouble in the world and always has been. It touches my life, not as much as others I’m sure, but it does not rule my life. Why? Because I know,

“My beloved is mine, and I am his…

I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine…

I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me.”

I’m convinced Solomon, who penned these words by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, learned that truth from his father, David. David knew what it meant to have a love relationship with the Lord God. In Psalm 18 he writes,

“I will love thee, O LORD, my strength.

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;

my God, my strength, in whom I will trust;

my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

I will call upon the LORD,

who is worthy to be praised:

so shall I be saved from mine enemies.”

According to what’s written, David spoke these words after the LORD delivered him from his enemies and Saul. In the next few verses he speaks of the anguish of his soul.

“The sorrows of hell compassed me,

and the floods of ungodly men

made me afraid.”

Hell is raising its ugly head in our world today filling the world with fear, and rightly so, if you are not a child of God. For he is,

“The thief cometh

not, but for to steal,

and to kill and to destroy…”

John 10:10a.

“…your adversary the devil,

as a roaring lion, walketh about,

seeking whom he may devour;”

1 Peter 5:8.

But for the children of God,

“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear;

but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”

2 Timothy 1:7.

“And he said unto them,

I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.

Behold, I give unto you power

to tread on serpents and scorpions,

and over all the power of the enemy:

and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Luke 10:18,19.

“What shall we then say to these things?

If God be for us, who can be against us…

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?

Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution,

or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword…

Nay,

in all these things we are more than conquerors

through him that loved us.”

Romans 8: 31,35,37.

What can we do when surrounded by the lies of the enemy coming against us? When we become weary of the wrestling with the world? Two things. 1 Remember,

Finally, my brethren,

be strong in the Lord,

and in the power of his might.

Put on the whole armour of God,

that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,

but against principalities, against powers,

against the rulers of the darkness of this world,

against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Ephesians 6:10-12.

Remember our battle is not with those crying the loudest spreading evil in their paths. They are lost souls doomed to hell if they do not receive the gospel of Christ. Our enemies are spiritual, entering into these lost souls using them to further Satan’s agenda. They are of the darkness. We are of the light. Which takes us to the second thing to do. Follow David’s example in Psalm 18.

“In my distress I called upon the Lord,

and cried unto my God:

he heard my voice out of his temple,

and my cry came before him,

even into his ears.”

Go to the temple and pray. Pray for our leaders. Pray for the lost being manipulated by the devil. Pray for the saints to be strong in the power of the Lord’s might. Pray for the saints to be united in the love of Christ. Pray. Pray, and Pray.

The next several verses in this Psalm explain that God will move heaven and earth to answer our prayers. We may have to wait for God is eternal and time means little to Him. But know this, He will answer the cries of His children.

When He delivered us from our greatest enemy darkness covered the land and the earth shook when the Father met our need.

“Now from the sixth hour

there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour…

Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice,

yielded up the ghost.

And, behold,

the veil of the temple was rent in twain

from the top to the bottom;

and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;.”

Matthew 27:50,51.

Again, He shook the earth to reveal death could not hold our Lord. The light of life was victorious.

“And, behold, there was a great earthquake;

for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven,

and came and rolled back the stone from the door,

and sat upon it.”

Matthew 28:2.

As time ends, the Lord will shake the earth again.

“See that ye refuse not him that speaketh.

For if they escaped not

who refused him that spake on earth,

much more shall not we escape,

if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven:

Whose voice then shook the earth:

but now he hath promised, saying,

Yet once more I shake not the earth only,

but also heaven.”

Hebrews 12:25,26.

All that is left is to join David in praise and thanksgiving for what God has said He will do is done.

“The LORD liveth;

and blessed be my rock;

and let the God of my salvation be exalted…

Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD,

among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.”

How do you stay at peace when all around you chaos threatens?
