Prayer and Praise; Darkness and Light

“As thou hast sent me into he world,

even so have I also sent them into the world.”

John 17:18

Two kingdoms walk on this earth. One is filled with darkness. The works of that kingdom try to hide, quiet, and destroy the kingdom of light.

Our First Prayer –

Is for the kingdom of light.

“Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.”

Matthew 6:10

With the first advent of Jesus Christ, the kingdom of God entered the earth. Those walking with Jesus experienced the power, authority, and love of God’s kingdom. We, who have been born into God’s kingdom, experience the same in the presence of the Holy Spirit abiding in us. Our citizenship is of God’s kingdom. And He, through Christ, has left us a work to do until He returns for us. As He was sent so are we.

“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,

All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them

in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. ”  Matthew 28:18-20

Our First Promise and a Second:

“and, lo, I am with you alway,

even unto the end of the world. Amen.”

Matthew 28:20

Plus, Jesus promised us power for the work He left us.

“But ye shall receive power,

after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:

and ye shall be witnesses unto me

both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria,

and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”

Acts 1:8

Our Second Prayer and a Third:

Christ walked the earth as one and could only be in one place at a time. Christ in us fills the world with his light, and He seeks more laborers for the kingdom.

“Then saith he unto his disciples,

The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest,

that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.”

Matthew 9:37,38

And what are we to do?

“For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord;

and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.”

In the preaching, pray for the message to no longer be hidden.

“But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

In whom the god of this world

hath blinded the minds of them which believe not,

lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ,

who is the image of God,

should shine unto them.”

2 Corinthians 4:5,3,4

Our Promise:

“Therefore my beloved brethren,

be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord,

forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

1 Corinthian 15:58

Our Praises:

“But thanks be to God,

which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ …

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually,

that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name …

Giving thanks unto the Father,

which hath made us meet

to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light;

Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,

and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

In whom we have redemption through his blood,

even the forgiveness of sins …

Saying, Amen:

Blessing, and glory,

and wisdom, and thanksgiving,

and honour, and power, and might,

be unto our God for ever and ever Amen.”

1Corinthians 15:57; Hebrews 13:15; Colossians 1:12-14;Revelation 7:12

As followers of Christ, we belong to his kingdom. Those apart from Christ walk in a kingdom of darkness that ends in an eternity apart from God. May we be as Isaiah who said –

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying,

Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?

Then said I,

Here am I; send me.”

Isaiah 6:8

Keep praying. Keep preaching. For the Lord prays with us and goes with us. He says,

“Neither pray I for these alone,

but for them also

which shall believe on me though their word.”

John 17:20

Who is it the Lord is sending you to? Know He is praying for you and them.

  1. Donna, thank you. The Lord had me write on this yesterday, of the need for laborers in his harvest field. The internet, right now, is a great place for us to be sharing the gospel.
