Praying For Peace

“Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done, On earth as it is in heaven.”

Matthew 6:10, NASB

Is peace on the earth possible?

Thy kingdom come

“Jesus answered and said to him,

Truly, truly, I say to you,

unless one is born again,

he cannot see the kingdom of God …

For He delivered us from the domain of darkness,

and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,

in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins …

I tell you that in the same way,

there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents,

than over ninety-nine righteous persons

who need no repentance.”

John 3:3; Colossians 3:13,14; Luke 15:7; NASB

Thy will be done

“The Lord is not slow about His promise,

as some count slowness,

but is patient toward you,

not wishing for any to perish

but for all to come to repentance …

From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say,

Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand …

In the same way, I tell you,

there is joy in the presence of the angels of God

over one sinner who repents.”

2 Peter 3:9; Matthew 4:17; Luke 15:10; NASB

Is peace on the earth possible? With God we know all things are possible, but we also know for peace to reign on this earth is not probable—until the Lord returns to set us his kingdom. Until then we have been called to be ambassadors of the kingdom of peace—it begins with peace with God.

“Now all these things are from God,

who reconciled us to Himself through Christ,

and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely,

that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself,

not counting their trespasses against them,

and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ,

as though God were entreating through us;

we beg you on behalf of Christ,

be reconciled to God.”

2 Corinthians 5:18-20; NASB

Be reconciled to God—it is the only way for peace to reign in your heart.

Our Prayer: Heavenly Father, you have brought us the peace of your kingdom in Jesus Christ. May we be ambassadors of your kingdom of peace, preaching repentance to those still in the kingdom of darkness. May we be workers together for the building of your kingdom one soul at a time.
