The Writer’s Heart: Family

The Writer’s Heart: FamilyDSCF0092

The apostle Paul wrote—

“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love;

in honour preferring one another …

Fulfill ye my joy, that ye be likeminded,

having the same love being of one accord, of one mind.

Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory;

but in lowliness of mind

let each esteem other better than themselves.

Look not every man on his own things,

but every man also on the things of others.”

Romans 12:10; Philippians 2:2-4, KJV

I don’t know how it works in secular writing markets, but in the Christian market, my limited experience mirrors Paul’s verses. We cheer the successes of our writing family, encourage the struggling writer, and share the heartaches of others.

I am thankful for my publisher, editors, cover designers, and friends who have instructed me, encouraged me, kept me in prayer, and now, are reading, The Nazarene’s Price. This weekend I will celebrate with many of my friends via a book signing party. You all, whether present or not, are a part of that celebration. Thank you.

One group not yet mentioned, is the followers of my blogs on, Meeting Jesus with Donna Stearns. Many have been with me since I started. It doesn’t matter what genre we write, nor the nature of our blogs, we, as believing writers, are likeminded in our desire to see our writing family do well, as we pursue telling the story of Jesus. For He is the one which defines our reason for writing.

Warren Richards, a fellow blogger writes, “A Love Story,” at He writes free verse poetry describing the heart grounded in the love of God. The following was his comment to my post, “A Writer’s Heart: Finished.” Thank you, for allowing me to post it here.

“Twelve years ago, writing, sharing my heart in words, wasn’t something I say myself doing. But God, He was preparing my heart, filling my soul, with His words of love. Look back, I see the journey, the moulding of a writer heart. God’s love the ink, my heart the pen. Now, I see, hear words everywhere, I’m writing multiple stories at a time. Yes, this silent river, has the writer’s heart. The endless overflow, it’s His love!

The believing writing family is another extension of the body of Christ working through the love of Christ to declare Christ to the world. That we—

“may with one mind and one mouth

or one written word—

glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Romans 15:6

How has the writing family impacted your experience? May God give the increase to all you write in his name. May all our readers be encouraged and strengthened in the love of God.
