Monday’s post: Blessed: Walking in the Presence of the Lord, encouraged readers to seek counsel from the One who is omniscient, who is holy and who guides in truth. As He freely gives us counsel in His word and through godly men and women instructed in His word, may we take time to return a blessing to Him.

“I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel…And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD…For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given…and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor… Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings…Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory…This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.” (Isa. 11:1,2; Isa.9:6; Jer. 32:19;Ps. 73:24; Isa. 28:29).

How do we bless the Lord?

  • Using the brain He has given us: “…my reins also instruct me in the night…But He said, Yea, rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and obey it.” Luke 11:28.
  • Keeping our mind set on the eternal. “I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved…  Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth… Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” (Ps.16:8; Col. 3:2;Heb.12:2,3).

The result?

  • When you bless God, He returns a blessing to you: Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.” Psalm 16:9.

This week I have learned again how much I depend on the Lord’s counsel, as my Mom and I walk through the darkness that seeks to capture her mind. But the light of Christ gives her knowledge of His love and speaks words of truth to her spirit. She is His child and He will never leave her or forsake her. Even when she forgets, He remembers her. She is His beloved and He is hers.

What need do you have that you desire the Lord’s light to give you counsel?

Praying Together:

Precious Heavenly Father,

how great are your mighty works.

You are our faithful Counselor who guides us each day until, one day, You take us to glory to forever live with you where there is no darkness.

Until then may we bless you with thanksgiving and obedience to your word.

May we hold the eternal in our hearts and look always to our Lord Jesus Christ.

May we walk each day in the joy of Christ in us, our strength, our peace and our rest. With Him we will not faint in the way.

Blessed be the name of our Lord. You do all things well.

Where do you turn when you don’t know where to turn?

Friday’s Blessing to the Lord

blog eagle-2054284__340

“Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.” Ps. 145:3

“Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youth shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:  But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint.” Isa.40:28-31.

We started this week with a blessing and a prayer for those who put their trust in God. You will find it posted as Monday’s Blessing. Now it is time to return that blessing to the Lord who hears our cries.

“Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised…Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul. I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue. If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.” Ps. 66:16-20.

IMG_0051“…and his greatness is unsearchable…Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast. How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light…” Ps. 36:5-9.

Prayer of Blessing to the Lord:

Almighty Father, Creator of the universe, bring all who will hear and I will declare what you have done for my soul. You, through the blood of your precious Son have cleansed me and made me whole. You have given me access to your throne through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection. You hear my prayers in your faithful lovingkindness. You abundantly satisfy all my need and cause me to drink of your pleasures. In you I trust for there is none other like you. Thank you for attending to the voice of my prayers. In all that you have blessed me, may I return a blessing to you. Your name be praised.

Now it’s your turn to declare what He has done for you. Won’t you bless Him by blessing us, in the comments, with what He has done for you?

Blessing the Lord

“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.” Ps. 103:1.“Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.” Ps. 103:1.Featured Image -- 4621

“Bless the LORD…Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.” Ps. 100.

“…and all that is within me…Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind… I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works…Giving thanks unto the Father,

  • which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
  • who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,
  • and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
  • In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins…(Matt. 22:37; Ps. 9:1;Col.1:12-14).IMG_0051

“…bless his holy name…And God said unto Moses, IAM THAT I AM… For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace… And Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am… Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever… And behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first, and the last.”( Ex. 3:14; Isa. 9:6; John 8:58: Heb. 13:8; Rev. 22:12,13).

Isn’t it amazing to think the sheep can bless the Shepherd? The creature, the Creator? The servant, the King?  I encourage you to take a minute and scan the verses again finding the many ways we can bless the name of the Lord.

How many did you find? Which will you use to bless the God of your salvation? If you need more ideas visit my post, “Gifting the King” from January 5, 2018.

Praying:

Holy Father, we can only bless you because you have blessed us, making us partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light, delivering us from the power of darkness, translating us into the kingdom of your dear Son who has redeemed us by his blood purchasing our forgiveness.  May we worship you in spirit and in truth being faithful to your name and making known all your wondrous works. All glory, honor, and praise belong to You alone. Amen.
