Are You Ready?

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” Rev. 12:11.

blogreligious-2598299__340The book of Revelation speaks four times to those who suffer persecution and death. Five truths came to my mind as I thought on these things.

  • God sees.
  • God will avenge their blood.
  • God gives them rest.
  • God made them overcomers through the blood of the Lamb.
  • It happens. Are we ready?

“…In the world ye shall have tribulation.” “…I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Remember…the servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you…” From John 15 and 16.

1Peter 3:15 shows us how to be ready, so as not to faint when trouble comes because of our faith.

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts…”  “Come out of her, my people that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.” “…ye are the temple of the living God; as God has said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate…” “Ye also…are built up a spiritual house, an holy preisthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.” (Rev. 18:4; 2Cor.6:16; 1Pet. 2:5).

“…be ready always…” “…by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” “If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use and prepared unto every good work.” (Romans 12:2; 2Timothy 2:21).

“…give an answer to every man that asketh you…” Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord…but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God.” “…Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.” “…ye that make mention of the Lord, keep not silence.” (2Tim. 1:8; Mark 5:19b; Isa. 62:6b)

“…a reason of the hope that is in you…” “And have a hope toward God…there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and the unjust.” “…the hope which is laid up for you in heaven…” Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;” “Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast…” Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (From Acts 24:15; Col. 1:5; Titus 2:13; Heb. 6:19; IPeter 1:3)

“…with meekness and fear;” “In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth: And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil…” “And now, Israel, what doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul.”  (2Tim. 2:25; Deut. 10:12).

“Having a good conscience…”  “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men.” (Acts 24:16).

At this time few in the United States have lost their lives due to their confession of faith. Our challenge comes rather in, “…by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”  (Rom. 12:1) And praying without ceasing for one another.

Praying today for our brothers and sisters in Christ who face persecution stand fast in the hope of our Lord and Savior.
