Have You Seen Jesus?

The next few weeks I will be sharing some previous posts, because I will not always have access to my computer while working in our camps and serving on a mission trip. I hope you enjoy them, and I look forward to visiting with you all when I can return to my normal schedule of blogging. Until then, I pray you are blessed.

“Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.” Rev. 1:3.

“And I saw heaven opened…”

This time of year, in my neck of the woods, God’s creation explodes with a kaleidoscope of colors. As beautiful as is the picture our heavenly Father paints for us showing His beauty and faithfulness, it cannot compare to the day the heavens are opened.

“And I saw heaven opened…” The apostle John stands in good company with Isaiah, Ezekiel and Stephen. What did they see?

Isaiah: “…I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.” Isa.6:1.

Ezekiel: “…the heavens were opened, and I saw visions of God.” Ezek.1:1.

Stephen: “But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.”

John’s sightings exceed the others: “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns…he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God…and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS…

And I saw the beast taken, with him the false prophet…These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone…

And I saw…the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, bound…a thousand years, And cast…into the bottomless pit…

And I saw thrones, and they that sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them…and they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years…

And I saw a great white throne…And I saw the dead, small and great stand before God; and the book was opened which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books…And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire…

And I saw a new heaven and new earth…And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven…And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.” (Taken from Rev. 19-21).

One day the heavens will open again and we will see, “…the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory…” “…this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go…” “…Hereafter shall ye see the Son of Man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.” “…we shall see him as he is.” (Luke 21:27; Acts 1:11; Matt. 26:64; 1John 3:2)

We don’t know when we will see Christ face to face, but we do know, “…yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry.” Until then ours is to, “Be…patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.” “Therefore be ye also ready for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.(Heb. 10:37; James 5:8; Matt. 24:44).

Have you seen Jesus? I have through the written word. You can too. If not now, know this: “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.” Rev. 1:7.

Heavenly Father, your word is true. May all who read know the return of Jesus Christ draws near, see Him in the pages of your written word and be made ready for that day.

The Prophet’s Message

A prophet proclaims God’s word to the people. Jesus said of Himself:

“For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.”John 12:49-50.

Not only did Jesus speak the word of God to the people, He is the living Word of God proclaiming the Father.

“In the beginning was the Word…and the Word was God…And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,(and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” John 1:1,12.

If indeed Jesus is that Prophet spoken of by Moses our responsibility lies in hearing, “all things whatsoever He shall say unto you.” In Matthew 24 Jesus reveals to His disciples things concerning the sign of His coming and the end of the world. He expounds on the message in Revelation and admonishes those who have ears to hear “…what the Spirit saith unto the churches…” He speaks of events occurring in centuries past and are happening in our world today, but says that’s not the end but the beginning of sorrow. After this He states, “…then shall the end come….But of that day and hour knoweth no man…”

Speaking of those in the days of Noah and the coming flood, Jesus says, “…they…knew not until the flood came, and took them all away…” At that time a great separation occurred. The righteous, those who believed the word of God, were saved. Those who did not know the truth until it was upon them perished in the flood.

The Prophet warns, “Watch…Therefore by ye also ready: for in an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.” Then He concludes with an illustration of the final separation of the faithful and unfaithful.

“Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.” Doing? Doing what?

“…give them meat…” “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding…As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby…man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the Lord doth man live…Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart…” (Jer. 3:15; 1Peter 2:2; Deut. 8:3b; Jer. 15:16).

“…Blessed is that servant…” “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness, as the stars for ever and ever…Therefore…be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” (Dan. 12:3; 1Cor. 15:58).

What message does the Prophet have for the unfaithful?

“But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, my lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellow-servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; The lord of that servant shall come …in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matt. 24:48-51.

“…that evil servant shall say…my lord delayeth his coming…the lord…shall come…in an hour that he is not aware of…” “…take heed…lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life…so that day come upon you unawares…For when they shall say, peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child and they shall not escape.” (Lu. 21:34; 1Thess. 5:3).

The Prophet delivered the message of God. He was and is the message of God. Will you hear Him? He will return to finish the word of God, fulfilling every word spoken. When is the time of the end? I don’t know. But I do know if He delays His second coming for all, He will come for each of us at our appointed time. “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Heb. 9:27.

Praying all who read will hear and heed the message of the Prophet, so as to be ready when He comes.
