Where is Life Taking You?

Confidence, hopes, and dreams fill minds of young adults exiting their teen years and stepping into the adult world. Schooling surrenders to pursuing the plans they have prepared for themselves. Days turn into years, they realize reality does not match their dreams. Life’s journey with its detours leave them questioning where they are going. Many believe they make their own destiny then discover it’s not at all what they would have chosen, but yet, it is the consequence of choices made in the uncertainties of life.

blogthorns-52766__340Living life to the fullest begins with losing your life to the One who knows what the future holds and sustains you through all of life’s surprises, as He leads you to the destination He has prepared for you. It happens  for those attached to  and abiding in the right vine.

The bible speaks of two specific vines people branch from. Each clearly picture the future for those attached to them.  One is found in Revelation 14:18 and 19. It is called the vine of the earth. This vine is tended by Satan and we all shared in it at one time according to Ephesians 2:2, 3a. “Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience; Among whom also we all had our conversation(life), in  times past…” Being fed and tended by Satan, we grow into branches of lusts fulfilling our every desire and are disobedient to God, the children of wrath. The word goes on in Galatians 5 explaining the lives these branches have. “…the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkeness, orgies, and things like these…those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. (verses 19-21, ESV).  Back in Revelation 14 we are told the final end of the vine of the earth is to be cast into the “great winepress of the wrath of God.” Life nor death sound promising attached to this vine.

Now for the good news. The other vine is found in John 15. Jesus is speaking and says, “I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman…I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing…Herein is my Father glorified that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If you keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love…”

You cannot be attached to both vines. Either you are of the earth’s vine, “As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy…”  and we bear the image of the earthy. Or we are, “as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly…” and we shall bear the heavenly image. (Referenced in 1Cor. 15.)

Galatians 5:22,23 shows the fruit the True Vine bears in His branches. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance…And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.” God has chosen you to bring forth fruit. And now, “…being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Rom. 6:22,23. This is a promise you can live by.

So, is life in the True Vine all sunshine and roses? Yes, and no. No, because those abiding the True Vine, live in opposition to the vine of the earth. We face surprises and bad things. And, yes, because we  know where we are going and who is leading the way. We will reach our destination for God gives us His Holy Spirit as our guarantee. And along the journey we will know our purpose and have a peace that passes understanding. For we trust the all sufficient Gardner to lead the way.

Praying you know the fullness of life lived in Christ.

The 7th Trumpet

“Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven saying, ‘The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.” Rev. 11:15, NASB.

The temple of God is opened. The ark of the covenant appears in His temple. Lightning, thunder, an earthquake and great hailstorm follow. Two signs appear in heaven along with the introduction of two beasts, an image, and a mark. The seventh trumpet’s final note announces the harvest of the earth.

blogwheat-147293_960_720“And another angel came out of the temple, crying out with a loud voice to Him who sat on the cloud, ‘Put in your sickle and reap, for the hour to reap has come, because the harvest of the earth is ripe.” Rev. 14:15, NASB.

Matthew 13:36-43:  “…Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field…He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man…”   “And the angel said unto…Mary…behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.” Luke 1:30-33.  “…behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.” Rev. 5:5.

“The field is the world…”  “For God so loved the world, that  he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.  ” “And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.” Matt. 24:14. “…in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.” Rev. 10:7.

“…The good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one…”   “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13.  “…he that doeth righteousness is righteous. He that committeth sin is of the devil…Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin…In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.” from 1John 3:7-10.

“The enemy that sowed them is the devil…”  “And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth…” Rev.12:9.

“…the harvest is the end of the world…the tares are gathered and burned in the fire…His angels…shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing of gnashing of teeth…”   “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie; but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” Rev. 21:27.

“Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father…”  “And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.” Dan. 12:3.

“Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.”

Two kingdoms…of which are you?
